Greetings, this is Weiye!

TL;DR I am a student researcher in Geospatial Artificial Intelligence, and I am looking forward to employment (internship) and collaborations.

I am a student passionate about geospatial data science and artificial intelligence, with an emphasis on pattern mining, physics-guided machine learning, and responsible AI practices (fairness, security, etc.). One-sized AI doesn't fit all, and my research mainly addresses the challenges of applying machine learning on geolocated data (GIS, Remote Sensing, etc.). Application domains of my research include transportation, urban planning, economics, environmental science, and public health.

Through my research activities, I have built up understandings in computer vision, natural language processing, statistical computing and pattern analysis, I have also published several peer-reviewed research papers in venues of machine learning and geographic information science.

I am fortunate to have Professor Yiqun Xie as my main advisor at the University of Maryland, College Park (UMD), while pursuing a PhD in Geographical Sciences there.

(Click to expand) Before Joining UMD, I obtained my BSc in Geographic Information Science from Zhejiang University (ZJU), China. I had a Master of Science degree in Geography from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), advised by Professor Shaowen Wang. At UIUC, I worked as a student research intern at the CyberGIS Center for Advanced Spatial and Digital Studies, where I explored data science at scale (HPC) and web GIS software development. Besides, I had an internship experience in industry focusing on smart city and transportation AI research.

I strive to inspire, and I also look forward to learning from you. While I am looking for advanced research opportunities, I am open to collaborations in interested domains.
